Afghanistan: Continuity and the Persistence of Tradition, Culture and Identity

The Institute of Ismaili Studies is pleased to announce the upcoming international conference on Afghanistan, titled Afghanistan: Continuity and the Persistence of Tradition, Culture and Identity. The conference seeks to explore the multifaceted dimensions of identity, intellectual tradition, and cultural heritage of Afghanistan through various lenses, including historical continuity, societal resilience, and the dynamic processes of change and adaptation.

Despite frequent ruptures over the past five decades, elements of continuity define Afghanistan’s society, culture, and traditions. The conference promises to provide a vibrant atmosphere, critical analyses, and intellectually stimulating discussions aimed at understanding and preserving the continuity of tradition, culture and identity in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan, with its rich tapestry of history and cultural diversity, stands at a crucial juncture. The persistence of the country’s tradition, cultural identity and heritage amid contemporary challenges and transformations presents a compelling subject for academic inquiry and discussion. This conference brings together established and young scholars and practitioners researching the country and its diaspora to present their new and innovative research and engage with other scholars in the field.

Join us for this groundbreaking international conference on Afghanistan. This unique event brings together scholars and practitioners from diverse fields to explore the enduring legacies of Afghanistan’s rich heritage.
